5月31日 夫のショルダーバッグ
ＬＩＮＮＥＴ（http://www.lin-net.com/） さんで購入したリネンのグレインバッグ クロスで夫の
ショルダーバッグを作りました。 モデルにしたのは石川ゆみさんの ショルダーバッグ。 し
かし夫のリクエストによりジッパーつきのポケット、裏地つ き、裏にもポケットをつけまし
た。 先週送ったので今週中に着くといいなあと思っ ています。
May 31st The messenger bag for Jeff
I bought linen fabrics at LINNET. Then I made a messenger bag for Jeff. Later I saw a
shoulder bag designed by Yumi Ishikawa. In the messenger bag, I put an inside fabric lining
and a couple of pockets. I sent it to him a week ago. I hope he will receive it soon.
5月28日 再会
7，8年前からの友達と4年ぶりの再会を果たした。 何年も会っていなかった友達に 逢うのはわ
くわくする。 話したいことはいっぱいあって木曜日は夜中の2時まで 一緒に飲んでいた。 レ
ベッカはサンフランシスコに拠点を置き、染物の勉強をして いる。 いつまでも目標を持ちそれに
向かって努力を惜しまない彼女の姿は私にとっ ていい刺激になった。 やっぱり頑張っていてい
いんだと思った。 夢に向かって努力する姿はその人を美しくさせるとそう感じた。
May 28th Long time no see
Rebecca visited me last Thursday. It was 4 years since we last saw each other. Seeing my
friend after a long time was exciting. There were so many things to talk about, we talked until 2
a.m. She has been studying fabric dyeing in San Fransisco. She always has a dream and puts
her efforts toward it. Seeing her efforts stimulated my thoughts. Having a dream is a beautiful
thing..
5月24日 春やっと到来
昨日は朝さくらさくらを歌いながらジョイと
お散歩した。 やっと朝のお散歩コース で
桜を見ることができた。 あの柔らかな優し
い桃色がとってもかわいらしく、心が うきう
きした。 花って美しいと再認識した。
Spring has finally come! While I walked Joy
in the morning, I sang "Sakura Sakura"
(the song for cherry blossoms). Finally I
could see cherry blossoms on the
riverside. When I saw the soft gentle light
pink petals, my heart was full of gentle
feelings. Flowers are beautiful... truly.....
いつものように髪をカットしてもらいました。
I had my hair cut as usual.
5月19日 7月の準備
2ヶ月前なのでそろそろアメリカのお家へ帰る準備をする頃がやってきた。 中部国際空港もでき、夫もシアトルの近くに移
り、今度は日本国内での乗り継ぎもスムースに、そしてアメリカでの乗り継ぎもなくなるだろうと楽しみにしていた。 実際に
は中部国際空港からも関西国際空港からもシアトル行きの直行便がない。 北海道に住んでいる私は女満別空港から羽
田に行き、リムジンバスに乗って成田へ行く。成田からの直行便は2社しかなく、出発は3時ごろ。つまり私は成田で前泊し
なくてはならない。 帰りも同様に羽田の近くで一泊するのだ。それでもアメリカで乗り継ぎがないのは今回が初めてであ
る。 乗り継ぎで何度もひどい目にあった私にとって乗り継ぎがないのは本当に心がほっとする。
May 19th To Seattle in July
To go to the U.S. this summer, I had to start preparing for my visit to the U.S. from now. I believed there were many
direct flights from Japan to Seattle. However there are only two companies. I was shocked. None of the Japanese
companies has a direct flight to Seattle. I have experienced very hard times in the airports in the U.S. when I transfer
flights. I don't want to go through that again. This time there is a direct flight from Narita to Seattle. I am so happy for
that.
５月１７日 夫のリネンランチバッグ
朝６時から仕事が始まる夫はいつも朝食べるフルーツとお昼のお弁当を持参する。 最近お弁当箱(も
ちろん日本のお弁当箱)とフルーツが入るサイズのランチバッグが欲 しいというので早速リネンの生地
で作ってみた。 そして肉よりも野菜が好きな夫 に３か月分の青汁を一緒に送った。 夫は毎日青汁を
飲んでいる(笑）。 そして全 身に使えるやわらかめのクリームがいっぱい欲しいというのでホホバオイ
ルとみつろ う、そして２，３種類のエッセンシャルオイルを使って大きなジャーにいっぱいク リームを作り
一緒に同封した。 荷物がやっと着いてバッグも青汁もクリームもとっ ても気に入ったようだった。 今の
私にはそんなことぐらいしか出来ないのでなるべ く手作りしてあげるようにしている。
May 17th My husband's linen lunch bag
Jeff always brings his breakfast and lunch, because his work starts from 6 in the morning. I made his
lunch bag using linen fabrics. As he likes vegetables quite a bit, I sent him vegetable powder (green
powder). He drinks it with water like green tea everyday. I also made body cream. It is made from
jojoba oil, beeswax, and some essential oils. The package arrived there in America, and he liked all of
the things. As I am far away from him, I try to make things for him by hand with my love.
５月１４日 おいしいお茶
我が家は全員お茶が好き。緑茶のおいしいのは飲んでいたが番茶のおいしいのって飲
んだことがなかった。 雑誌やインターネットでよく紹介される柳桜園の番茶、随分 長い
間気になっていた。 そしてついに電話で注文したのだ。 早速飲んでみるとと ても香ば
しくておいしい。 このお茶のおかげでお茶の時間がとても楽しみになって いる。
May 14th Good Tea
My family loves any kind of tea. We usually drink good Japanese green tea, but I have
never cared about good roasted coarse tea. One of the brands is very famous, and I
was aware of it for a long time. Finally this week, I ordered it. When I drink this tea, it is
very crispy (roasted taste). I really love it. Since I got this tea, I have been looking
forward to my tea time.
5月10日 思いがけない便り
ひょんなことからある方を知った。その方はみつばちが大好きでみつばちについて多くのことを知ろう
としている方である。彼女の蜂への熱意がブログによく書かれていて私はその熱意に触れたく、数ヶ
月前、移動養蜂家花田さんのはちみつ入りの石けんとはちみつをプレゼントした。 みつばちが大好
きな彼女に花田さんのすばらしいはちみつを感じてもらいたかったのだ。そしてはちみつがどれだけ
のみつばちの労力の証なのか私も一緒に共感したかったのだ。 自分をよく見つめた彼女の文章か
ら勤勉さや真面目さ、そして思いやりが伝わってくる。それ以来ずっと、彼女の文章を読むのが私の
楽しみでもある。 今日、ポストを覗いたら、一枚の葉書が入っていた。 それはその方からの葉書
だった。彼女は岩手県に蜂を飼われている方を訪ねていて、そこで湯のみ一杯の蜜のおもてなしが
あり、それが私の心を思い出させたと書いてあった。 出先で見たこともない私のことを思ってくれて、
私のために葉書を書く時間を割いてくださったその方の思いやりがその一枚の葉書から感じることが
できた。 そしてその思いがけなかった一枚の葉書により、私の心がその方に素直に受け入れられた
ことが確信できたのだ。 うれしかった。
May 10th Unexpected postcard
She is the person who loves honeybees. She also studies about them. Her enthusiasm touched my
heart, so I sent my honey soap and the honey (Mr. Hanada's honey) to her several months ago. I
wanted her to know about Mr. Handa's wonderful honey. I love to read her blog. From her writing,
you can know her diligence, honesty, and kindness. Since then, I read her blog almost everyday.
When I opened the postbox this morning, I found one postcard. It was from her. She was visiting the
honey man in Iwate. When she had the cup of honey there, it reminded her of me, she said. She
remembered me and took time to write to me even though we have never met before. I could feel
her thoughtful heart from this postcard.. Reading the postcard, I could be sure that she accepted
my honesty. I was happy.
5月9日 母の日
昨日は母の日だった。
アメリカのママにはイヤリングを送ったがまだ着いていないらしい(汗）。 今日電話して(ア
メリカではまだ日曜日）色々と話した。久々に話ができて楽しかった。 私の母にはお財
布をあげた。母の日のカードは高さ４ｃｍぐらいの豆手まりバッグ(写真のような)を作ってそ
の中に布カードを入れた。母にとってはその豆手まりバッグが一番うれしかったみたい。
あまりにも可愛かったので自分にも色を変えて作ってみた(写真）。どう？
May 9th Mother's Day
Yesterday was Mother's Day. I sent a small present to my American mom, but it has not
arrived yet... I called her this morning, and we talked for a while. I really enjoyed talking
with her. My parents and I went to a spa yesterday. There is a spa with a great view of
Lake Saroma. We had a great time there with a wonderful view.
I made a small ball bag (one and half inches tall). It looks cute, doesn't it?
5月7日 アンガールズ
小学生の時にシブガキ隊のモックン(分かる人同世代）が好きだった時以来の自分の
中の大ヒットがやってきた。それはアンガールズ！田中の才能は認めるが特に山根が
最高。アンガールズのネタは一風変わっていて疲れた心にクスっと笑いをこみ上げさ
せる。 写真の切り抜きは生徒が私にくれたもの。可愛い封筒に“アンガールズの切
り抜きです”と書かれていた。今、机の横の壁に貼ってある。 最近では休みの日に
テレビでアンガールズが出ていると高校生からメールで“今アンガ出てるよ”と知ら
せてくれる。そうすると私はテレビの前に貼りついて見るようにしている。 私の携
帯の壁紙もアンガールズに変えてくれた。教室で使えるＤＶＤはよく買うが自分の為
だけにＤＶＤやビデオを買ったことがなかった。しかし今回はアンガールズのＤＶＤ
を購入したので、次回渡米した時に夫に見せようと思っている。日本語がちょっとだ
け分かるアメリカ人にアンガールズのおもしろさが分かるかどうかが試される！
May 7th UNGIRLS
In Japan, many different types of comedians are very popular. One of them is called
"UNGIRLS". They are very tall and very skinny. Their gags do not cause big laughs but
giggling. When you are tired, this giggling can release my stress from my busy days. That is
why I love UNGIRLS. I usually buy DVDs for the use of my classes, but I do not buy DVDs
just for myself. However, I bought their DVD this time just for myself. I am planning
to bring it to show Jeff when I go to the U.S.next time. Jeff knows Japanese a little. I
wonder if UNGIRLS can make him giggle.....
５月４日 朝の散歩
父と３日交代で朝、犬の散歩をする。今日から３日間は私の番。 ジョイは晴れた日 のお
散歩が大好き。時々振り返って笑いかける(コーギは笑う！) あの笑顔を見る ともうちょっ
と歩こう！と思えるのである。北海道もやっと暖かくなり、今日のよう に晴れた休みの日の
散歩はとっても楽しい。 いつも散歩するのは河川敷でまだ水嵩 の多い川を見ながら歩く。
桜の木もあるがまだ咲いていない。 桜が咲くのが待ち遠 しい。
May 4th Morning Walk
My father and I take turns for walking Joy. From today for 3 days, it is my turn. Joy loves
to walk if the weather is fine. During her walks, she turns around and smiles at me
(*Corgis CAN smile!!). When I see her smile, I always decide to walk more for her.
Hokkaido is getting warmer finally. I really enjoy walking with Joy in the early morning if it
is my day-off. We always walk the riverside. The level of the river water is still high. The
cherry blossoms are not blooming yet. I cannot wait to see the soft pink little flowers.
5月2日 愛用の手まりバッグ
私のトートバッグ(以前自分で作った苺バッグ)の中から
顔をひょこっと出しているの は私が愛用しているふん
わりシフォン深紅の手まりバッグ。この赤がきゅっと引
き締 まるようにかわいい。 大きなお財布からカードや
お金を出してこの手まりバッグに 直接お札やカード
類、そして小銭入れ、プラスハンカチ、ティッシュを入
れている。 丸いのでいっぱい入るのが好き。
My favorite ball bag
You can see my ball bag which I love to use in my
totebag. My favorite ball bag is deep cardinal red. It
stands out, but it is a cute color. I use it as a purse. I
put my bills, cards, a coin purse, a handkerchief, and
a tissue in it. It is round, so I can put many things
inside.
