6月30日 ギフトデイ？
今日はうれしい品物が届く日のようだ。 まずはアメリカ大使館より永
住権の書類、 そして知り合いの方がいつも年に2回くださる私の大好
きなわらに入った納豆、そし て予期しなかったお客様・お友達からの
贈り物。 お友達の ちゃんは私が石けんをＨＰで販売する前か
らのお客様で、彼女の意見はすっごく参考になる。色々な石けんの使
用感を率直に言っていただけるので私の大切なモニターさんでもある
のだ。そんなＭＡＫＯちゃんから今日荷物が届いた。封筒を開けると
可愛いキャミとリネンのバッグが入っていた。そして小さな手紙があり
日頃の私への 感謝のプレゼントと書かれていた。私はＭＡＫＯちゃん
に何にもしていないのに、そ んな風に思ってくれて手作りのプレゼント
をくれるなんて本当にじ～んと心にしみ た。石けん販売を通じてこん
な風に人とつながりができ、その人々によって喜びを与 えられたこと
に感謝したい。
June 30th The Gift Day?
Today I received documents for permanent residency in the U.S.
from the American Embassy. I also received fermented soybeans in
straw. They taste great. I got another gift from my customer and
friend, Mako. That was unexpected.
Mako has been my customer since before I started to sell soap on
the web. She can tell me frank comments about my soap, so she is
my important monitor also. I got an envelope from her. In the
envelope, I found a sleeveless shirt and a linen bag. They were made
by Mako. I found a letter inside telling me that she wanted to send
me these as thanks. When I read it, I was so touched. Through selling
soap, I could connect with people like her. Thanks to this connection,
I could receive happiness. I feel very thankful.

スノーフレイクが待っていた。 具合が悪いのだか頭をなでられ
るのが大好き。 小 さな命の鼓動が私の手の中で奏でていた。
June 28th Home
Snowflake was waiting for me. She loves to be petted, even
though she doesn't feel good. When I held her in my hand, I
could feel the pulse of this small soul.

アメリカ大使館で面接があった。 英語で面接を受けるのは久々なので緊張した。

I had an interview at the American Embassy. I was very nervous because I hadn't had
an interview in English for a long time.
6月26日 すばらしい女性
今日は須田帆布さん の須田
雅代さんにお会いする約束をしていた。
待ち合わせ場所に現れた彼女はもちろん
須田帆布さんのバッグを持って
颯爽と歩いてきた。彼女は笑顔の素敵な
女性で、その後ランチをしながら手仕事の
こと、ハーブのこと、バッグのこと、英語のこ
と、家族のこと、外国のことなど色々と
お話することができた。 雅代さんが自分と
似たような境遇にあることを知り驚きな
がらも、だからこそこんな風にお会いできた
のかもと思った。 色々なお話をした中
で とても印象に残っているのは彼女が仕
事をしていく上での人への配慮であった。
仕事という環境を通じて人がそれぞれ刺
激し合い、思いやりを持って接しているこ
とを彼女はよく理解しているようだった。
彼女の優しく豊な個性はアートそのもの
であり、将来に向かって向上しようとする彼
女はキラキラしていた。
June 26th The wonderful woman
Today I had an appointment to meet Ms.
Masayo Suda from
(SudaHanpu creats great bags using
canvas fabrics. When I saw her at first,
she was walking with a Suda Hanpu bag
at a smart pace. Her smile was very
attractive. While we had lunch together,
we talked about handmade things, herbs,
bags, English, families, and foreign
countries. Her background was very
similar to mine, so maybe that is why we
could meet like this. We talked about
many things. The thing I really admired
about her the most is her consideration
toward people through her job. She
understands well how people can
stimulate each other and how they can be
thoughtful in the work environment. Her
gentle rich personality is an art, and
she who had her chin up for her future
was sparkling brilliantly.

朝、部屋のドアの下に新聞があった。 でも英語の。 これってもし
かして私の名前がトーマスだから？ えっ？
June 24th What?
In the morning, there was a newspaper under the door of the hotel
room. However it was written in English. My name, Thomas, made
the hotel people send this to me, a Japanese person? Mmmmmm
6月23日 Ekoca
恵比寿で健康診断があった。 終わったら6時近かったが恵比寿にきたので是非
行きたいと思いマップを持って行ってみた。 きつい坂を登って少しすると Ｅｋｏｃａがあっ
た。汗だくになってそのドアを開けると奥のほうから”いらっしゃいませ”の声がして見るとな
んと布作家の石川ゆみさんでした。 まさかご本人がいらっしゃると思っていなかったので
ものすごく緊張した。 私はあの日Ｅｋｏｃａで一番変な人だったにちがいない。 素敵なもの
が並んでいる中リネンのエプロンが並んでいた。 石川ゆみさんが丁寧に エプロンのことを
教えてくれた。 石川ゆみさんの作品に魅了される人は私だけでは ない。 なぜそんなに
彼女の作品が魅力的なのかご本人にお会いすることができてよ く分かった。 石川さん自
信が持つ自分らしさそして愛らしさが作品それぞれにエッ センスとして入っているのだ。
石川さんのエッセンスが入ったエプロンを購入し て、その日私はすばらしい女性に逢えた
喜びでルンルンだった。
June 23rd Ekoca
I had a health check at Ebisu in Tokyo. After that, I stopped by Ekoca (which is famous
for good pottery and fabric items made by great artists). When I opened the door of
Ekoca, I heard a voice saying "Can I help you?" from behind the cashier. She was Mrs.
Yumi Ishikawa who is a popular artist. I did not expect to see her, so I was very nervous. I
am still sure that I was the strangest person in Ekoca that day. Her items are very simple,
but very attractive. There are many fans who love her creations. I saw some aprons
there, and she came closer and explained about the aprons. Before seeing her, I did not
know why her creations are so popular. However, after meeting her, I knew the reason.
Each of her creations has the essence of her simple identity and sweetness. I purchased
the apron with her essence. It was a great day to meet such a wonderful artist.

先日知り合いの方からお祝いのお返しに石けんセットを頼まれた。 アメリカ
風にラッピングしてほしいとの要望だったので石けんが息ができてなおかつア
メリカ風ラッピングをしてみた。 どう？
明日より東京に行ってきます。
June 22nd Soap Gift
One of my parents' friends ordered my soap. She asked me to do the
wrapping in American style. Handmade soap is breathing, so I did the
wrapping like that. How are they?
From tomorrow, I will go to Tokyo for a week.
牡丹の花
毎年楽しみにしている牡丹の花がお庭で咲きました。 今
年はたくさん咲いてとても 重そうです。 豪華なお花が集ま
るとビューティーコンテスト会場のようです。
A Peony
The peonies I look forward to every year are blooming.
This year, the peony tree has many flowers, so it looked
very heavy. The tree looked like a place for a beauty
contest with gorgeous flowers.
６月２１日 旅の必需品
今週の木曜日より２８日まで用事で東京に行く。 もちろん私が東京へ行っている
間、教室をお休みすることになるので期末テストが近い生徒さんにはちょっと早い期
末テスト対策で忙しい。
いつも旅の必需品はまずは石けん。 シャンプー、リンス、ボディーソープなどは使
わないので石けんで終わらしてしまう私は使って小さめになったしっとり石けんと蜂
さんからの贈り物石けんを持っていく。 はちみつ石けんを髪の毛に、しっとり石け
んを顔と体に使うのだ。石けん箱も使わない。石けんを入れるために作った布の袋に
入れて持っていく。濡れた石けんも気にせずその布の袋にポンと入れる。布は風通し
が良いのですぐに乾いてくれるし、洗える。 そして場所をとらないのが気に入って
いる。 いつも酢を薄めたリンスを使っているが旅にはクエン酸を持っていって、入
浴前に水で溶かしてリンスを作る。 ローションはもちろん水とグリセリン、ラベン
ダーオイルを数滴落とした簡単なもの。 たった一泊の旅でもローションは忘れても
石けんだけは絶対に持っていく。 手作り石けんは余分な油脂を皮膚から取らないの
でとっても使い心地が良くてどこへ行くのも手放せないのである。
June 21st My necessary items for traveling
I will visit Tokyo from June 23rd to 28th. While I am in Tokyo, I must cancel teaching all classes (which is the whole
school). Some students will have final exams at the end of this month, so I have been busy preparing for their exams.
I never forget to bring my handmade soap while I travel. As I use only soap to wash my face, body, and hair, I bring the
plain soap and honey soap. I use the plain one for my face and body, and I use honey soap for my hair. I do not use a
soapbox, but I use the fabric bag to carry my soap. Even though the soap is wet, I put it in the fabric bag. The fabric
bag is well ventilated, it can dry the soap well. For my hair conditioner, I bring citric acid. I mix the citric acid with
water as my hair conditioner. My lotion is also an easy one. It is made of water, botanical glycerin, and a few drops of
lavender essential oil. Handmade soap does not take too much oil from your skin, so your skin gets softer and smoother.
That is why I cannot live without it.

6月17日 がんがんトートとバスケットバッグ
最近、すばらしいトートバッグを購入しました。普段の仕事
の日には仕事を家に持ち 帰ることも多いので本や書類が
いっぱい入る須田帆布さん
のがんがんトートを愛用していま す。 いつもトートバッグに
カーディガンやＡ4サイズの数冊の本を抱えていたので す
ががんがんトートのおかげてすっぽり全部収まってしまうの
で安易にすべて持ち運 べます。 須田帆布さんの作品はデ
ザインがよく、2重底でとても頑丈です。それだ けでなく使う
人のことを考えて作られているので使いやすいんです。 作
る人の使う 人に対する思いやりが感じ取れます。 病院へ
行ったりちょっと買い物に行ったり友 達と遊びに行ったりす
るときは自分で作ったバスケットバッグを愛用していま
す。 お財布や手まりバッグ等いっぱい入るので使いやすく
出先でよく可愛いバッグだねと 褒められることが多く、
ちょっと照れくさいやらうれしいやらです。

Recently, I purchased a wonderful tote bag. I usually carry several books and papers with me, so I use a Gangan Tote of
Suda Hanpu brand bag. I used to carry a tote bag, a cardigan, and several books with both arms. However after I bought
Gangan Tote, I can carry one bag only(because I can put all of them in it). Their designs are good, and they can last
longer because of the two layer bottom. The bags are made with consideration for the users. I can feel the consideration
of the people who make these bags. That is why I love it.
When I go to a hospital, shopping, or meet my friends, I use my basket bag. I can put my purse, the ball bag with cosmetic
items, and some other things in it. Sometimes when people admired this bag, I feel embarrassed but happy.

月曜日から昨日まで の店主のまきさんが我が家
に遊びに来ていた。 彼女が作った石けんを始めとして色々な
作品、そして彼女の考えや思いにはずっと触れていたが、本
人に会うのは初めてだったので、 とてもわくわくした。 私は仕
事があったので夜遅くと朝しか逢えなかったが、昨日 は興部
のノースプレインファーム に一緒に行って来た。 そこでおい
し いミルクやチーズを頂きながらソープのことや手作りのこと
などいろいろな事をまき さんと話せて最高だった。
June 16th Spending a great time together
From Monday until yesterday, Maki who has a shop, Auricula,
visited me in Hokkaido. Even though I know her creations:
soap, items, and her writings, it was my first time to meet her.
I was excited. On Tuesday, we went to North Plain Farm in
Okoppe. We talked about soap and handmade crafts over
delicious milk and cheese there. It was a wonderful moment.

6月13日 出会いの延長
スノーフレイクの容態が思わしくなかった
が、静寂の世界へ導かれていつつも、私た
ちともう少し一緒にいたいと決意したよう
だ。 出会いがあれば必ず別れがあると
思っていても、別れが近づくとつい出会い
の延長を切望する。
今日も出会いの延長がある。 ソーパー(石
けんを作る人）である以前からのお友達
が関西からここ北海道へ遊びに来る。 以
前からのお友達だが今回逢うのは初めて
である。
こうした二つのまったく違った出会いの延
長が今日存在することに私はとっても幸せ
だと思った。
June 13th
The postponement of encounters
Snowflake has been in a bad condition.
However, she seemed to decide to stay
with us even though she is still led by the
world of stillness. If there is an
encounter, there will be a separation.
When the separation is close to you, you
tend to desire the postponement of the
encounter.
Today there is another postponement of
an encounter for me. The soaper, my
friend, who lives in Kansai will come visit
us. She has been my good friend, but
this will be the first time to meet.
These two different postponements of
encounters will exist with me today.
I am happy.
The postponement of encounters
Snowflake has been in a bad condition.

今月に入って良いことも悪いことも色々あり、今もなお忙しい日々を送っている。 心の整理が付かず、色々なことを
文章にしたいと思ってもできないでいる。 Ｙｉｎ－ｙａｎｇマーク (陰陽）のように自分がそのマークの中心にいるかのよ
うに思う。 悲しみの力は果てしなく深く、強い絶壁のように私の前に立ちすくんでいる。 幸せの風がさわやかに吹い
ているのに生暖かくしか感じない。 はかなく美しいものが目の前で無の世界へ導かれているのを直面し、強くなれ
ない自分、そして無知で何もしてあげられない自分に腹を立てている。
June 8th Recently
In this month, I had both good and bad things. Even now I have been very busy. I am in two minds, so I cannot write
well about my thoughts. I feel like I am at the center of a yin-yang mark. The power of sadness is very deep and
standing like a steep precipice in front of me. Even though the nice happy wind blows, I cannot feel the happiness
but only the wind. I have faced that the fragile beauty is being led away from the world. I have been angry at
myself, who am not strong, not knowledgeable enough, and can not do anything to save her.
6月1日 20年間飲んでいるお茶
両親のお友達がいつも5月と12月に送ってくださるのが静岡県増田茶店の緑茶で
す。 その方のおかげで我が家はいつもおいしいお茶を長い間飲んでいます。 夫も
ここ の緑茶が大好きなので私がアメリカに行く時はいつも一本持っていき、おいしい
お茶 をいつでも飲ませて頂いております。 我が家の緑茶は20年ぐらいずっとここの
お茶 です。きっとこれからもずっとこのお茶を毎日飲んでいることでしょう。
June 1st The green tea we have drunk for twenty years
My parents' friends send us Masuda brand green tea twice a year ( in May and in
December). Thanks to them, we can drink wonderful green tea. As Jeff also likes
green tea, I always bring one package to the U.S. Our family has been drinking this
tea for twenty years. We will be drinking the same tea for a long time in the future.
